Meek in Greek

Showing the words used for “meek” in Greek:

Strong’s Concordance
Original Word: πραΰς, πραεῖα, πραΰ
Transliteration: praus
Definition: mild, gentle.

Cognate: 4239praýs (also listed as 4239a/praupathia in NAS dictionary) – meek

This difficult-to-translate root (pra-) means more than “meek.” Biblical meekness is not weakness but rather refers to exercising God’s strength under His control – i.e. demonstrating power without undue harshness.

[The English term “meek” often lacks this blend – i.e. of gentleness (reserve) and strength.]

What we think of as meek isn’t necessarily what Christ meant.

More to come.

Terrorist Attack, Stockholm

I’m writing on terrorist attacks far too often. They seem to come in waves.

I have heard little about this on the news. I don’t even know what the attacker looks like. I don’t even know his name.

Four died this time.
I offer prayers for their souls.

Assad, Trump, chemical weapons and missiles?

People accuse Assad of using chemical weapons on people. One can’t use chemical weapons under international law.

But did Assad? I don’t know. I don’t mean to put on a conspiracy hat, but this whole thing feels staged. A false flag, even. I hope not.

President Trump launched 59 tomahawk missiles at a base. No Russians died and I’ve not heard about non-Russians dying.

It was too soon for me to support this. Especially when we don’t know who did it. What if Assad didn’t?

Assad is the only one in that area who protects Christian and Yazidi minorities. I don’t want to see him displaced. I don’t want to see more Christians, Yazidis and more, dying. Especially until we know if he did.

I wonder. Is this posturing? Now Trump, Assad and Putin are likely to meet to discuss what to do.

It showed that Trump is not a “Russian plant” or whatever. Not that anyone with any sense believes that.

I hope this is the case. I don’t want to see Trump going to war. For someone who was non-interventionist for ~30 years, this seems… odd.

Time will tell.

Terrorist Attack, St. Petersburg

Yet another terrorist attack.

At last count, I saw:

  • Eleven dead
  • Forty-five injured
  • One bomb exploded.
  • They stopped another.
  • Nobody has claimed responsibility for the attack. Yet.

There is nothing that I can say about this other than I am disgusted by the act. Like any sane person would be. I noticed, though: there was a lot of glee about this attack. From “laugh reacts” on live feeds on Facebook to more.

I saw a lot of glee from SJWs. ‘They deserve it,’ they said, ‘because of how they treat homosexuals.’

So that makes it okay, does it? Huh. I forgot many on the left only virtue signal. They have no sympathy for what happens. I doubt they even care about homosexuals. Or anyone else. They’re just useful right now. But I’m changing topics.

No flag of Russia lit up on European monuments. Yet.

So far nothing:

  • in London
  • on the Eiffel Tower
  • on Brandenburg Gate
  • or even on the Empire State Building

Tel Aviv did, though. Bless them.

Right now, nobody has claimed responsibility. Rumours are spreading. Conspiracy theories are everywhere.

My thoughts and prayers for everyone injured or dead:

  • Left or right.
  • Black or white.
  • Gay or straight.
  • Male or female.
  • Young or old.

“Conservative? Not wanted” – CoE Bishop’s treatment

The Church of England has sent a clear message to its conservative churchgoers – you’re not wanted*

I don’t get it: haven’t they (the CoE) realized that liberals don’t tend to like the Church? Why bother trying to appease them? Why are they demonising someone for something they permitted?

Give progressives an inch and they’ll take a mile. Nothing will please them. If it does, it’s for, what? A month? A week if you’re lucky? These people don’t support a meritocracy, after all. It’s about who fits their agenda and personal diversity quotas.

So why bother? For a quiet life? That’s weak. It’s cowardice embodied. This risks only division for a Church which flouts its broadness.

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn: a writer all Communists should read.

Recommended reading.

Alexsandr Solzhenitsyn (1918-2008) is a writer which every Communist should read in order to see where their ideology leads. Jordan B. Peterson published one of the most damning lectures which undermines and explains the current social justice trends, where they stem from and how they subdue truth while using underhanded tactics like ignoring history, and instead concentrating on privilege: just like the Soviets. Solzhenitsyn gave us a glimpse of how Communism works as a sociological structure with an ethical base of Nihilism cloaked as Humanism. Peterson teases those problems out in the lecture below.

Solzhenitsyn lived through the Soviet union and wrote extensively about it, he also worked (sic) in a labour camp as a prisoner and got to experience it first hand. He tells the tales of prisoners and how they were treated. The poor are starved for being in the way and not willing to be absorbed by…

Mother’s Day

Today we remember mothers everywhere. We thank them. We love and honour them. Say thank you to your wives and your mothers. Hug them. Kiss them. Love them.

Then, do spare a moment for the Ever-Virgin. Mother Mary. The Mother of God, Most Holy Theotokos. A mother who had to watch the death of her Son, that we may live life eternal.
